Firefox can be made even faster!
Note: this seems to work for broadband connections, so, if you've got a slow connection, better abstain.
In the address bar, type “about:config” and press enter.
Double Click on the following (bold) and put in the corresponding, stated, values; when changing true to false or vice versa, just double click.
browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs – true
network.http.max-connections – 48
network.http.max-connections-per-server – 16
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy – 8
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server – 4
network.http.pipelining – true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests – 100
network.http.proxy.pipelining – true
network.http.request.timeout – 300
Now, right click and add a new integer and name it:
nglayout.initialpaint.delay
Set its value to zero.
You're done! Pages should be noticeably loading faster.
